Ensemble Triatu + 1
Triatu is a contemporary percussion ensemble, founded at the Conservatory of Brussels in 2000. Its members are Frank Van Eycken, Dimitri Dumon, and Björn Denys. Their repertoire mainly consists of contemporary classical compositions and shows a love for the work of Belgian composers. After several collaboration with the percussionist Tom De Cock the ensemble became Triatu + 1.
The ensemble played at renowned festivals such as Festival van Vlaanderen, Ars Musica, Prettig Klassiek (Rivierenhof Deurne), Klara in Veurne, Avanti!, OdeGand to name but a few.
One of the objectives of Triatu is to put young people in touch with contemporary music and percussion. To do so, they created an educational programme for young audiences. This programme was recorded in 2002 by Jeugd en Muziek Vlaanderen and Les Jeunesses Musicales de Wallonie. With this programme, they toured schools and cultural centres all over Belgium, thus reaching thousands of children and youngsters.
In February 2011 they released their first CD.
