The string quartet was established by Katharina Pfänder and Lisa Stepf. The quartet is currently working together with different artists on a number of projects.
Their work deals mainly with the investigation of the interface between the arts, and creating and developing new musical and performing concepts with a focus on interdisciplinarity. Musical structures, concepts of composition and improvisation are transformed into other media formats like drawing, dancing or video. Through this, they attempt to examine the interactions between the genres. The main repertoire of the string quartet is the music of Frederic Rzewski, Philip Glass, Michael Nyman, Arvo Pärt and Kraftwerk. They use this sound material and arrange and transform it into something new.
